Trim Levels and Performance
The new XC90 SUV comes available in three trim levels-Core, Plus, and Ultimate-a newly-named and streamlined lineup from the previous Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription Trims. There are also three powertrains-B5, B6, and Recharge T8-which are expected to be similar to the previous year, delivering between around 250 to 316 horsepower in the gas-powered models and up to 400 horsepower for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that also gets around 18 miles of all electric driving.
What's New for the XC90?
As mentioned above, some name changes have been made to the XC90's line-up for 2023, which will probably generate confusion for those already familiar with how Volvo used to name their trim levels. There are a few other changes worth noting, though. The B5 and B6 engines both have mild hybrid 48-volt powertrains now to help gently boost fuel economy in everyday driving. A brand-new Google-based infotainment system gives the vehicle Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Drivers will also receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates through this new-fangled infotainment system. Overall, the new XC90 will make any commute around Oroville easier and more comfortable since you'll be more connected than ever before.
Features and Amenities in the New Volvo XC90
The XC90's trim levels are all well-equipped with a slew of standard and optional features. The base Core rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and has four-zone automatic climate control to keep the cabin cozy. The all-wheel drive (AWD) variant comes with heated front seats, plus you can choose between faux leather upholstery on the B5 or leather upholstery on the B6 and Recharge T8. A 9-inch touchscreen is standard, as is a 10-speaker audio system. Forward-collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, a lane-keeping system, rear automatic braking, and rear cross-traffic alert are the driver aids that come with it.
The Plus includes larger wheels, illuminated doorsills, leather upholstery, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. You can, however, opt for a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system. The line-topping Ultimate offers chrome exterior trim and upgraded leather upholstery inside the cabin. The heated and ventilated front seats benefit from the inclusion of thigh-cushion extensions and adjustments for the side bolsters.
Additional options include the Lounge package (which comes with massaging front seats and a simulated suede headliner), an air suspension, 21-inch wheels, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, an automated parking system, and wool blend upholstery (which means the ventilation function gets removed from the front seats).

The new 2020 XC90 SUVs have arrived in the Durham, CA area, and they come with a few exciting new features, if not a full redesign. The top of the list is a new seating configuration which places two captain's chairs in the second row and bucket seats in the third row for the only six-seat SUV available. Another addition for the 2020 model year is the introduction of Tailored Wool Blend Upholstery, which is made of 70% recycled polyester for a more sustainable interior option.
Also new this year is the new kinetic energy recovery braking system, which reduces fuel consumption by as much as 15% by recovering energy during braking.
Available Volvo XC90 Trim Levels
The 2020 Volvo XC90 is available to Red Bluff shoppers with three engine choices, each powertrain being offered at three trim levels. The T5 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and the T6 gets a supercharged iteration of that same engine. The T8 eAWD Plug-in Hybrid adds two electric motors to the T6 engine. The T8 eAWD Plug-in Hybrid delivers a hair-raising 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. Trim levels for each drivetrain are:
